The Optic 8 + Gen 3 Grow Light is really really great!
I started hearing about Optic lights from my Local Farmer Friend a few years ago. So when the supply chain shortages happened a couple of years ago I started buying stuff for an inside grow tent, knowing very little about it but trying to get what I could get even though I wasn’t ready to use anything for a while. So I bought the best lights I could and that was the Optic 8 + Next Gen ( Note: The Next Gen I have come to call it version 2 to keep from confusing the lights). Over time I bought 2 of those lights and stacked them in my hallway never even opening them. So last Fall I tried my hand in a Gorilla Grow Tent 4×4 at the standard height on some clones I actually got to live. The Next Gen did fine. It was a lot to learn on the settings considering I never used any light at all ever. So for the clones the version 2 or next gen of the optic 8+ did great.
Now for 2024 the Optic 8 + Gen3 is the best light ever. Oh My God it is freaking awesome. Yeah its’s really on time as we say in the south. It’s the real deal, its the shit! The best I ever saw! Now along with the light you have to get your power straight. Don’t go with old cheap power cords all strung every direction. Hell No. For my new lights I got the server size APC Battery Back ups units. ONE FOR EACH LIGHT. The model smart ups 1500 costs about 659 dollars each and the best place to get them is B&H Video in New York. They also have 25′ long cords that match the special end on the light cord that is better than the short cord that comes with the lights. I recommend another apc power strip to go with the battery so you can easily plug other stuff into it and not have to deal with the back of the battery for every thing you plug in.
The V3 Controller is a definite must have with this light. Note that the lights when you plug 2 together you take the phone cord from the controller to the first light on the top plug. Then run the bottom plug from the first light to the top plug of the second light. Put the auto button on auto on both lights. Also go ahead and get the probes for the temp and humidity. They work great and are totally worth the price.
So I like both the Optic 8+ Next Gen and my new Optic 8+ Gen 3 lights. Have to do more posts later but for now all I can say is I love my new lights. They are the best ever for me!
