The Second Saturday Event that was held at Grow Generation on July 8th, 2023 was really fantastic!
I arrived a little after the store opened and helped a couple of vendors with the door as they were bringing in tables and displays. I had a list of stuff I needed written down and Charles was right on it grabbing the two big bags of pearlite and finding the storage liquid I needed for my ph pen. It was nice that they had the Clonex Gel I needed as I had tried two suppliers near my house in New London the previous weekend. I was happy they had the supplies I needed.
The Vendors set up their traveling displays and I appreciate how much time and effort each and every group spent making their products and having so many nice and pretty things.
Ms. Sidney Wallace had some very nice “Canni Soap” in fancy display boxes and had a nice presentation of her products.
Mr. Leo Gallant from Molecular Carpentry had some really cool boxes he had made with routers. He showed me one box that was made out of hard maple and it was real nice.
Several other tables with awesome products and crafts etc were around the room and it was really nice to meet and talk to most of the people. I missed the lady with the tye dye shirts but hopefully she will be there again.
Around the side asile I met John (boy-haha) Walton from Walton Select. He was joking that some people call him John Boy like from the old TV Show. I found it ironic that he had seeds for weed strains he was developing and that years ago when it was illegal to grow in VA every now and then in the fall you would hear about a bust up in Nelson County somewhere by the Rockfish River. Well if you don’t know that the old TV show was supposed to be from there in Schyler where there is a Walton’s Museum and is famous. The real Rockfish River goes on down to Howardsville to the James River. Anyway It was great meeting Mr. Walton and he let me smell some buds he had in a sample jar. He also showed me the technical charts and info about his seeds etc and I was impressed and told him that was way over my head for now!
Now I have to save the best for last so to speak.
I met an awesome group of young men who had great energy and drive developing their new business named “Barkhouse Farms”. They didn’t have a business card yet so I can’t remember their names but it was so cool joking around with them when they didn’t have a card. I told them I just got a new printer for possibly doing cool weed bud photos enlarged and laminated. I said I’ll tell you what, I’ll give you a free poster to help you get started and I shook hands with the man with the hat so I owe them a print. The man on the right in front of the pile of small greens was telling me about their “micro-greens” and I said do you eat it? He grabbed a handful and put it in his mouth and started chewing. I said where’s the spit can? he about spit it on me as we all laughed about that. They had some nice jars of honey they said their dad produces. So anyway it was nice to meet the Barkhouse Farms folks.
I paid Charles for all my stuff and pulled up out front and loaded my big bags of pearlite and left for home looking forward to next month’s event.
